Assignment #2: Persuasive Paper
In assignment 2, l write a persuasive essay in response to the theme:
“It isn’t enough for a multinational corporation to be socially responsible; they must be a triple bottom line company to meet their ethical obligations”

Required Elements of Assignment #2 – Persuasive Essay:

Write a persuasive essay either supporting or denying (agreeing or disagreeing) the veracity of the theme statement above. Submit to Assignment Folder.

Paper must include the following sections and you must use these subheadings:

1.Introduction – 1 paragraphs

2.Explanation and discussion of differences between between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the triple bottom line concepts. About 4 paragraphs



Write this section in depth and very clearly and in depth as if you the reader has never heard of the terms/concepts of CSR and triple bottom line.

1.Persuasive discussion/arguments agreement or disagreeing with the theme statement – about 6 paragraphs

Include in discussion in this section the idea of distributive justice and the current distribution of wealth and how these related to CSR and the triple bottom line ethical obligations and to your agreement or disagreement with the theme statement.

Again, write as if the reader knows nothing about these concepts and issue, so be very specific, detailed, in depth, comprehensive.

1.Conclusion Summary - 1 paragraphs

YOU MUST USE EXTENSIVE IN TEXT CITES in APA FORMAT. At this point in the term, it should not be necessary to mention this, but…. If you have no cite in a paragraph, double check as you likely need one.

USE A MINIMUM OF 4 OUTSIDE RESOURCES; use them from the class materials or substantive sources such as academic journal articles, major metropolitan newspapers, i.e, NY Times, The Wall Street Journal, etc. (no local or regional newspapers, please), business/economics /philosophy/ethics periodicals, such as The Economist, Forbes, etc.

Write in the third person; No personal pronouns and no “I think”, “I feel”, “I believe”, etc as these phrases all weaken your perspective because the reader is less likely to think you are writing from fact than fiction.

Paraphrase from resources, NO quotes in this paper, please. Points will be deducted for direct quotes.

Tips For Writing a Persuasive Essay:
· Use a pleasant and reasonable tone in your essay. Sarcasm and name-calling weaken an argument. Logic and fairness will help to keep it strong.
· Make your best argument your last argument.
· Select your words carefully, have them evoke an image. Persuasion is about appealing to all the emotions of the reader. The use of adjectives and logic will convey a vivid picture and will make the reader believe you and that you write as an authority on the subject.
